Galloway visited East Renfrewshire for a friendly Sunday game. Galloway Cricket Club Won the toss and decided to bat first on a very firm pitch. The Galloway total of 156 of 40 overs was more than competitive. The outfield was slow so the total was worth a bit more. Pat batted through for a patient 52 and Arif a rapid 24. We benefited from a lot of wides. It was great to see Logan and Jasmine making sure we batted out the overs. Both looked untroubled. Mention to Zaid the young opening bowler who looked good 8 overs for 21 runs. Musa playing Iin his first 40 over game took 3 for 25. Some real talent in the younger group at East Rens. Tea was taken and it was nice to eat outside in the sunshine. Galloway headed on to the field and after a team talk Jasmine mentioned she needed some retail therapy and we agreed to try and push as hard as we could to finish the game in 20 overs. We had a strong bowling attack. Ajith and Arif opened the bowling and Ajith struck first with a great caught and bowled. Arif then ripped through the top order with a incredible spell of 3 wickets for 4 runs. Alex, Jack and Andrew took a wicket a piece. Alex also brilliantly ran out afzal. Galloway were on fire. The champagne moment though goes to Jasmine who took 2 wickets for 5 runs. Andrew Marsay brilliantly catching the dangerous Nirvan at midwicket of a full blooded Pull shot. Jasmine then bowled the perfect ball to take the last wicket. Perfect length drifting away to take the top of the off stump. Victory was completed in 20 overs. Galloways fielding performance was faultless and our initial targets of batting the full 40 overs and bowling the opposition out in 20 overs were met. Thanks to East Rens for there great hospitality and good to see there talented young players perform well.
