There is something on offer to suit all abilities and experience levels.
Mens Teams
The club fields two men’s teams which play in the Western District Cricket Union Second Division and Third Division. The club also runs two midweek T20 teams in the Dumfries and District League as well as playing Sunday friendlies throughout the season.
Womens Teams
The women’s section was formed in 2012 and has grown & strengthened hugely since then with the future looking bright for GCC ladies! Playing in the Scottish National outdoor league and cup during the summer and Cricket Scotland regional indoor tournaments in the winter, the ladies play and train all year round. The commitment from this group of girls/women is phenomenal and they have also been the driving force behind most of the fundraising events as well. This was recognised at the awards night when the ladies section was awarded the George Creyke Memorial trophy in 2014.
The Ladies are a welcoming bunch and are always on the look-out for new players – cricket is a great way to get fit, meet new people and join a growing community of friendly women and girls. Get in touch if you fancy giving it a go!
Following on from the success of the after-school girl’s cricket club at Castle Douglas High School the plans for the future include taster sessions for girls at other local primary and secondary schools with the hope of setting up more girls cricket teams in the region.
Junior Teams
Youth development is an area which the club are looking to focus on. During the summer there are many opportunities for juniors to get involved in cricket training and games.
